MASTER COURSE BUILDERS

VISUALIZING THE DESIGN

How does a golf course come to life? Under the careful attention of a builder who listens intently to the architect's design philosophy and builds to suit the site. Even before construction in the rocky, timber-dense terrain began, architect Jeffery D. Brauer could see Giants Ridge unfold before him - golf balls suspended in flight, silhouetted against the Superior National Forest backdrop. PARK Construction Golf was consistently attentive to the architect's vision, even anticipating proposed field changes. Park helped achieve the architect's vision from tee to green.

MEETING THE CHALLENGE

How does a builder meet the challenges? With the equipment, personnel and depth of experience to address them head on, and with the capability to build on difficult sites. At Giants Ridge, harvesting of the area's heavy forest growth uncovered a multitude of nested boulders. Familiar with the challenges of construction projects and drawing on its modern fleet and 80 years of experience, PARK tackled the boulder fields by helping to create a practical solution. Wherever possible, rock was artistically placed to frame greens and trees, providing contrast that enhanced the design and making the rock a positive golf course signature.

 BUILDING WITH INTEGRITY

What does it take to demonstrate Integrity? Integrity means taking the time to build a golf course right the first time. And this requires working with a knowledgeable and flexible builder who can provide feedback about the changes and challenges involved in the construction process. If additional cost is ever warranted, PARK works to assure that the cost is fair and reasonable to the owner. At Giants Ridge, PARK encountered underground water that threatened the project budget and timeline. PARK researched construction alternatives, exploring a variety of options. PARK next worked carefully with the architect and owner to create economical and time-sensitive solutions. Underground drainage was carefully and accurately installed.

WORKING AS A TEAM

What is the key to building the relationships needed to construct a golf course? A successful builder who works closely with all the groups affecting the project's success. A builder needs to understand the owner/architect relationship and view the project through their eyes. PARK carefully built and nurtured the many relationships that led to the completion of Giants Ridge, working closely with the architect and owner well before the bidding phase. Throughout the process, PARK worked with the community and appropriate soil, water, environmental and other governing agencies. PARK staff met with people on-on-one, held and attended meetings, and remained open to suggestions. Moving on-site for the duration of the construction, PARK's golf superintendent even become part of the local community. Because at PARK, building refers to relationships as well as the physical construction process.

ONGOING QUALITY

PARK is proud to have participated in the creation of Giants Ridge. The golf course represents a significant example of the company's many capabilities. The attention and focus given to the project, however, are not unique to Giants Ridge. At PARK, your project will be built to the highest quality standards. PARK has the financial strength, the equipment and the experience to manage projects of a significant magnitude. Yet each project receives careful attention to detail, focus on quality construction and effective project management, regardless of its size. PARK knows that quality work best demonstrates the company's capabilities. Because when all is said and done, the work of a master course builder must speak for itself.
