Case Study: Earth Moving

Project Location: 11 miles east of Douglas, WY
Location: Fisher to Bona, WY
Completion Date: July 31, 2008

List of Self-Performed Work:

  • Placed 300,000 cubic yards (CY) of embankment
  • Removed and replaced 34,857.00 CY of topsoil
  • Placed 40,129 CY of Aggregate Base
  • Furnished and installed over 2000 lineal feet of Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP)
  • Excavated 54,000 CY of earth material
  • Cleared and grubbed over 43 acres

The first major activity was the construction of 11 miles of railroad subgrade. This work would require Park Construction Company to excavate to embank over 54,000 cubic yards (CY) of earth material. The second phase was the installation of over 2,000 LF of corrugated metal pipe (CMP). The majority of this CMP was larger than 36Ó in diameter with the largest pipe having a diameter of 12 feet. The final phase of construction was the installation of 7 precast concrete bridges. These bridges all required earthwork accomplished by Park Construction Company. In addition to the precast bridges two metal bridges were constructed.
