Does your company qualify as a Small Business?

The determination of whether a business is a "small business" or not is dependent on the type of industry, the annual receipt, and the number of employees. To see if your company qualifies as a small business please review the latest update on the Small Business Administration's web site at www.sba.gov/size.

Does your company qualify as a Disadvantaged Business?

In addition to the small business designation, your firm may also qualify as a disadvantaged small business. A small business must be at least 51% owned and controlled by a socially and economically disadvantaged individual or individuals. African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, Subcontinent Asian Americans, and Native Americans are presumed to quality. Other individuals can qualify if they show by a "preponderance of the evidence" that they are disadvantaged. All individuals must have a net worth of less than $750,000, excluding the equity of the business and primary residence. Successful applicants must also meet applicable size standards for small businesses in their industry.

How do you get certified as a SBE or DBE?

How does certification help your small business?

Certified businesses are listed in a directory. Prime contractors needing subcontractors to perform work ancillary to their primary work will refer to this directory when searching our small businesses and SDBs. Virtually all state and federal projects have minimum requirements for participation by small businesses and /or SDBs. You will make it easy for the Prime contractor to locate you if you get registered and or certified.

How can you get certified?

The following will direct you to some websites that you may wish to register with as they apply to your firm.

Applying for SDB Certification

Small businesses wanting to take advantage of the SDB Program must be certified by the SBA. You can obtain more information about the SDB Program by contacting any SBA district office , or reviewing the SDB home page, or taking the online training course on SBA certifications. For more information or questions, call (202) 619-1850.

Quotes

Please fax all quotes to our Hampton office at 651-437-2512.

With many of the projects Park Construction Company bids, there are specific diversity goals to be met. As part of the bidding process, which often runs right down to the wire, we often have to state a percentage of those goals that we can meet. So, if you are a woman-owned, minority-owned, hubzone, veteran-owned, service disabled veteran-owned, or disadvantaged small business enterprise please put it on your quote so we know your are a firm that can help us reach those goals. There are a few basics you should know about teaming up with us in a prime-subcontractor relationship.

  • Park Construction Company generally utilize AGC's format for subcontract agreements. Of course we also include all related portions required by the specifications.
  • We require a bond for subcontract agreements over $50,000. Please state that bond costs are included in the price on your quote or state a specific dollar value that may be discounted from the price in the event we choose to waive the bond.
  • As part of our small business goals, we accept the responsibility of trying to break down bid items into smaller units to offer opportunities for smaller businesses to participate. Please indicate on your quote if your items are tied.
  • For accounting and auditing purposes, we ask that you include taxes in your bid item prices.
