Park Construction Company has a long and successful history of working with small businesses. The information contained in the following paragraphs will help you become a valuable member of the team on projects Park Construction Company is bidding. If you need more information than is contained below or your wish to get enrolled in our small business/small disadvantage business database feel free to contact our Small Business Liaison Officer, Laurie Scott at 651.437.2512. Good Luck to you and we look forward to working with you on future projects.
The determination of whether a business is a "small business" or not is dependent on the type of industry, the annual receipt, and the number of employees. To see if your company qualifies as a small business please review the latest update on the Small Business Administration's web site at www.sba.gov/size.
In addition to the small business designation, your firm may also qualify as a disadvantaged small business. A small business must be at least 51% owned and controlled by a socially and economically disadvantaged individual or individuals. African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, Subcontinent Asian Americans, and Native Americans are presumed to quality. Other individuals can qualify if they show by a "preponderance of the evidence" that they are disadvantaged. All individuals must have a net worth of less than $750,000, excluding the equity of the business and primary residence. Successful applicants must also meet applicable size standards for small businesses in their industry.
Park Construction Company is an equal opportunity employer and as such our stringent EEO Policy is written into all of our subcontractor agreements.
Federal and State laws prohibit discrimination in employment because of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, ancestry, creed, affectional preference, marital status, sexual orientation, status with regards to public assistance, physical or mental handicap, or disabled veteran status.
Park Construction Company offers EEO training at their annual safety days and this training is available to all subcontractors who are willing to participate.
For help in developing your Affirmative Action Plan, visit Minnesota's human rights website or visit the North Dakota Department of Transportation Civil Rights Office.
Certified businesses are listed in a directory. Prime contractors needing subcontractors to perform work ancillary to their primary work will refer to this directory when searching our small businesses and SDBs. Virtually all state and federal projects have minimum requirements for participation by small businesses and /or SDBs. You will make it easy for the Prime contractor to locate you if you get registered and or certified.
The following will direct you to some websites that you may wish to register with as they apply to your firm.
Small businesses wanting to take advantage of the SDB Program must be certified by the SBA. You can obtain more information about the SDB Program by contacting any SBA district office , or reviewing the SDB home page, or taking the online training course on SBA certifications. For more information or questions, call (202) 619-1850.
Please fax all quotes to our Hampton office at 651-437-2512.
With many of the projects Park Construction Company bids, there are specific diversity goals to be met. As part of the bidding process, which often runs right down to the wire, we often have to state a percentage of those goals that we can meet. So, if you are a woman-owned, minority-owned, hubzone, veteran-owned, service disabled veteran-owned, or disadvantaged small business enterprise please put it on your quote so we know your are a firm that can help us reach those goals. There are a few basics you should know about teaming up with us in a prime-subcontractor relationship.
