Case Study: Cannon Bridge

Project Location: Goodhue County, Cannon Falls, MN
Location: Highway 19 Bridge
Completion Date: October 1, 2009

List of Self-Performed Work:

  • 7,000 cubic yards of excavation
  • Construction of 6 drainage structures
  • Installation of 700 lineal feet of storm sewer
  • 1,662 square yards of 8' concrete pavement
  • Placement of 2,000 cubic yards of structural concrete
  • Placement of 10,000 square feet of bridge slab concrete
  • Installation of 186,500 pounds (93 tons) of epoxy coated reinforcing steel

This bridge reconstruct project required large cast inplace structural concrete. The concrete bridge was reinforced with Epoxy coated steel bars. The additional scope of work for this project included: the removal of the existing bridge, installation of storm sewer, common excavation, installation of aggregate base class 6, as well as concrete paving and landscaping. Other specialty work requirements were the directional drilling and traffic control.
